Lip Filler Questions
How often do lip fillers need to be touched up?
How often a patient gets their lips treated depends on the patient and their aesthetic goals. The average patient has their lips treated every 6 months to 1 year.
Do you use numbing cream when you do lip filler?
Yes we do!
Can lip filler be removed and will lips return to normal?
On the rare occasion that a patient is unhappy with their lip filler, we do have hyaluronidase which is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid.
Has a patient ever lost sensation from lip filler?
The filler itself, just like any procedure, can cause inflammation. This swelling can cause some tingling of the nerves, but the loss of sensation, which is rare, is typically temporary and will resolve with time as the inflammation in the area goes away.
Rhinoplasty Questions
How long is the recovery for rhinoplasty?
The initial downtime for nasal surgery is about 7-10 days; your cast is on for 7 days and you are makeup ready at 7 days!
Is rhinoplasty ever covered by insurance?
Functional rhinoplasty can be covered by insurance IF it is necessary to address issues with how the nose functions. An insurance authorization is required to determine if a procedure is covered by insurance. Do any of these hair restoration procedures hurt?
Pain is unique to each individual. Pain management will be discussed with you at your consultation.

- A healthy person
- At a stable weight
- Has been finished nursing for at least 6 months and not planning on more children
- Has been free of smoking for 8 weeks or longer
- Has been off of birth control for at least 30 days prior to surgery
What is the recovery like after a mommy makeover?
We never want patients laid up in bed during recovery, we want them up and moving from the day they get home! However, there are limitations that include lifting more than 25 pounds for 6 weeks. Patients can resume some lower body and arm exercises at the 3-week mark (under the doctor’s direction). Patients with office or desk jobs can resume work around the 2-week mark, patients working virtually can resume around the 1-week mark. You will be in a compression garment during the recovery time.

Because these are cosmetic procedures, insurance does not cover a mommy makeover.
Thoughts on fat transfer vs breast implants?
Fat transfer is a good option to give the breast more volume, fill out the breast, and help with bra gapping, but will not increase the cup size. Something else to keep in mind is that on occasion, multiple sessions are needed. Breast implants can significantly increase breast size if desired and can also offer a very natural look.
Can tummy tucks be done laparoscopically if there is not a ton of skin and I don’t want a scar?
No, tummy tucks are only done with a small scar above the pubic area or a scar from hip to hip. This incision is needed to remove excess skin and access the abdomen muscles for tightening. Liposuction is an option to remove excess fat without a large scar but will not remove excess skin.
How close to my goal weight should be I be before a mommy makeover?
Patients should be at a stable/maintainable weight for at least 6 months prior to surgery.

Many patients complain of a “sad” belly button following pregnancy which can be repaired as part of a tummy tuck procedure.

We require new moms to wait until they are done breastfeeding before we treat them with any dermal fillers or Botox.
Has a patient ever had an adverse reaction to under-eye filler?
Anytime you are being injected around the eyes you want to make sure your provider is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is an expert in the anatomy. The eyes are vulnerable and inadvertent injection into a blood vessel would have serious consequences as severe as blindness. That’s why it’s important to do your homework and go to a physician who regularly performs this procedure to ensure the safest and best results possible.
