Non-surgical procedures continue to remain a popular choice for patients seeking smaller enhancements to rejuvenate their appearance. We understand the growing demand for non-surgical treatments and are proud to offer a wide range of options that deliver remarkable results that can be done outside of the operating room. Below are some of our popular non-surgical procedures for the face, outside of the ever-popular neurotoxins and injectable fillers.
Lip Lift
This simple procedure elevates the upper lip by reducing the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose (known as the philtrum). In addition to elevating the top lip, a lip lift can expose more of the lip itself, making a naturally thin lip look fuller and increase the amount of “red show” for a lip that is naturally very thin.
Our facial plastic surgeons generally perform the sub-nasal lip lift, which removes a strip of skin underneath the nose. This allows the small incision to be hidden in the crease of the nose, reducing visible scarring. View before and after photos on our website.
Lip lift recovery and downtime is minimal. Most patients experience very little discomfort which can be treated with pain medication. Bruising, swelling, and numbness are normal for the first few weeks and will subside as the area heals. Most patients return to work after a few days, and exercise is restricted for 2 weeks following the procedure. Final results can be seen within approximately 3 to 6 months.
Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing uses laser technology, abrasion, or chemicals to improve skin texture, tone, and appearance. It can effectively address concerns like sun damage, age spots, acne scars, pigmentation, changes in texture, and wrinkles and fine lines.
Laser resurfacing utilizes a laser to penetrate the layers of skin where correction is needed, and the heat stimulates collagen production as well. Abrasion removes the damaged outer layers of skin to allow for fresh, youthful skin to emerge. Chemical peels apply a chemical solution to the skin’s surface, which exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. Our facial plastic surgeons typically perform resurfacing for a deeper level of correction, however, the exact type of resurfacing used will be dependent on the specific needs and goals of each patient.
Recovery varies depending on the depth of correction used and the size of the area treated. Patients typically experience mild redness and swelling for a few days after the procedure but can return to their daily activities shortly thereafter as recommended by Drs. Quatela, Lee, or Montague.
Earlobe Repair
The frequent wear of heavier earrings can cause the earlobe from the point of piercing to stretch downward, and sometimes for the earlobe to completely tear through. As we age, we also lose volume in our earlobes which weakens them, causing earrings to pull down. Earlobe repair is a fairly quick procedure offered in the office to repair damage done to the earlobe.
Swelling and bruising are fairly minimal, and patients can return to work immediately.
