18 Questions with Dr. Peter Krasniak
Dr. Peter Krasniak

Dr. Peter Krasniak joined the Quatela Center in the summer of 2024. Specializing exclusively in breast and body procedures, he brings a fresh perspective and exceptional surgical skills to our practice. As a newer addition to the Quatela Center, we wanted to share a deeper glimpse into who Dr. Krasniak is on a more personal level.

  • What’s a typical day like for you? I generally wake up between 5:30 and 6:30 am; if I am good that day I’ll exercise, otherwise, get ready for the day. On OR days, I get to work a bit before 7 am, on clinic days it is around 8 am. In the OR, cases are anywhere from 2-5 hours long, so I can do two to four cases per day. Otherwise, I’ll see clinic patients from 8:30 am – 5 pm. After work, I generally am the chef in the family so will cook dinner for my wife and myself, then clean up and take care of any housework items before relaxing with my wife and our dog to watch some TV before bed (note: boring, but accurate…).
  • When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? In elementary school, I once wrote I wanted to be a school bus driver. More realistically, I considered being an architect prior to going to college.
  • What are your favorite hobbies? I enjoy nature photography, but more broadly I like anything that gets me outside. I enjoy cooking, landscaping, hiking, skiing, and traveling. I am continuing to grow my small wine collection as well.
  • What is your favorite thing about Rochester, NY? Rochester has what you need from a city while still maintaining a small-town feeling. It allows you to enjoy all four seasons, and I love the proximity to the Finger Lakes.
  • What is your biggest pet peeve? I tend to be a stickler for grammar, and so I always notice improper grammar.
  • Do you have a favorite book or movie? My favorite book is East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
  • What is one thing everyone should do at least once in their lives? Everyone in the U.S. should travel to Utah and experience the 5 National Parks.
  • What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years? Growing our family to establish our roots in Rochester.
  • What’s the best way to start the day? My most memorable mornings have been when on vacation in a place with natural beauty, waking up and getting out early to experience a sunrise with a beautiful view (examples that come to mind are the sunrise behind a delicate arch in Arches National Park, or overlooking the Blue Mountains along the Blue Ridge Expressway in North Carolina).
  • What is your favorite and least favorite food? My wife and I are Pescatarian so a favorite meal would be a lightly seared tuna steak with wasabi mashed potatoes. The only food I dislike is raw red onions.
  • What is your most prized possession? Why? Probably my camera, although due for an upgrade. I find a lot of satisfaction with experiencing and then capturing beautiful moments in nature.
  • What is your guilty pleasure? Potato chips and listening to Dave Matthews Band.
  • What are 2 things on your bucket list you have yet to complete? Travel along the Rhône River, wine tasting as we go. I have always wanted to photograph the aurora borealis above the Arctic Circle, but I have recently been able to do this from my backyard in NY!
  • What motto do you live by? I don’t really have a motto, but as cheesy as it sounds, “Do what you love and love what you do,” is very applicable since I love being a plastic surgeon.
  • What’s one thing that can immediately make your day better? Seeing my wife and dog at the end of the day!
  • Which surgical procedure gives you the most satisfaction? Why? Of the breast and body surgeries that I do, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is probably my favorite. It is generally a big change for the patient and is often instant gratification on the day of surgery.
  • Who inspires you in your career? My dad, who was also a plastic surgeon, inspired me to pursue medicine and plastic surgery as a specialty.
  • What is your most-used emoji? Thumbs up!
